The New Olds: Designerly ways of looking at the past and the traditional
Old and traditional ways of making might seem boring and old-fashioned for the contemporary every day. But we have so much to learn from the past and get a lot of inspirations. The presentation will cover new ways of contemporary design methods and present new visual languages in the design world. Examples as part of a particular traditional manufacturing techniques, crafting skills, a pattern of any manufacturing process that reflects a unique, authentic visual language be it a form, a pattern, an ornamental element, a texture will be presented to the audience.

4PM - 6PM. Handcraft Demonstrations and Masterclasses

Farkas Réka: Leather techniques
In the workshop, participants can gain hands-on experience with various leatherworking techniques, including dyeing, wax batik, leather braiding, and simple leather button-making. They will also learn about the diverse applications of leather, with the opportunity to take home samples and create unique leather jewelry.

Seregély Mirtill: Traditional gingerbread making with hand carved wooden moulds
Participants of the workshop will experience the process of moulding and baking folk art gingerbread figures by using hand carved moulds with traditional designs like Hussar, Sword, Horse, Doll, Heart. The participants will also learn about the rich history and the symbolic messages of Hungarian gingerbread designs.

Csíki Virág: Felt workshop
Felt is a versatile material that can be used to make clothing, home textiles, footwear, toys and even felt tents. Now, to give you a taste of the technique, we're going to dream up jewelry using two simple elements: balls and string. There will be some easy ideas, but the sky's the limit, the complexity and elaboration of the finished object will depend on the ideas and energy invested by the participants.

6PM. Opening of the Exhibition and Prize Giving Ceremony
Opening the reDiscover traveling exhibition in Budapest and prize giving ceremony for the winners. The exhibition gives an excellent opportunity to study the effects of traditional knowledge on present- day applied arts. We exhibit such works of contemporary design which creatively reflect or rethink the traditional craft know-how from five countries: Georgia, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia and Turkey.

7PM. Berka Band: Concert and Folk-dance Teaching
Formed in 2008, Berka Band interprets the music of the Moldavian Csángó people in a variety of ways. Their commitment to this region is also demonstrated by their folkdance series, which has been running for more than a decade and has resulted in hundreds of adult and children folk dance events. The orchestra also performs with great success throughout Europe. In addition to Moldavian music, they also play music from Gyimes, Felcsik and Somogy.
