TRACE:
Traditional Arts and Crafts of Europe
This activity aims to enhance access to intangible cultural heritage online and accelerate the digital transition, safeguarding traditional knowledge through innovative digital tools. It strengthen the mediation of traditional craft techniques for citizens while inspiring artists to create innovative content using evolving technologies and new practices.
We have created a new online platform and knowledge center called "TRACE - Traditional Arts and Crafts in Europe". The main objective of this platform is to digitally preserve and disseminate the rich and diverse European craft heritage. Non-formal educational materials were produced to introduce traditional craft techniques and methods relevant to the contemporary design and fashion industry. We want to showcase traditional European and other culturally linked craft know-how that can inspire artists to create new, innovative works of art. We believe that the cultural heritage materials on this platform will provide young designers with valuable skills and knowledge. In addition, we would like to promote Europe's intangible cultural heritage on an international level. This digital repository has the potential to be expanded in the long term, allowing for continuous growth and enrichment of the resources available. It currently includes showcases of 30 craft techniques from 5 countries.
